What is a Post Cycle Therapy ? (Known as PCT)

Post cycle therapy (PCT) is used by people who take steroids and other performance and image enhancing drugs.

It helps your body recover from the cycle as steroids can shut down the natural testosterone production of the body. Through post cycle therapy, you will be able to get your testosterone level back up.

Without post cycle therapy, your body will take some time to recover and worst, you will lose the muscle and strength you gain while you are in steroids. It is like all your efforts are put down the drain.

Which Steroids require a PCT?

Steroids are often used by people who want to build muscle mass and improve athletic performance.

They are substances that are the same with testosterone (male sex hormone). In some instances, doctors prescribe them to address certain medical conditions. There are different kinds of steroids and when they are used for bulking, they would require a post cycle therapy. Examples of steroids requiring post cycle therapy are:

  • Oxandrin
  • Anadrol
  • Winstrol
  • Dianabol
  • Equipoise
  • Deca-Durabolin

Steroids can be introduced in the body through pills or hypodermic needles for injection into the muscles. These steroids are usually stack (take two or more kinds of steroids at once) to get big faster. Some users start a low dose of steroid and gradually increase the dose after a few weeks, and bring back to a lower dose near the end of the cycle.

However, there is no clinical trial indicating that such methods work. So, when it comes to taking steroids for bulking and athletic purposes, post cycle therapy is always recommended.

Which SARMs require a PCT?

SARMs are non-steroidal compounds that have the same effects as the anabolic androgenic steroids minus the harmful side effects of steroids, thanks to SARMs’ selective action mechanism.

They less suppress the natural hormones causing fewer side effects when compared with anabolic steroids. But just like any other drugs, SARMs may react differently in rare instances, which makes post cycle therapy a big help.

It is a must to know beforehand whether you need to undergo a post cycle therapy or not because if you do PCT even when you don’t need it, then it could have adverse effects not only on your body but on your overall health.

The rule of thumb is to do a post cycle therapy if the SARMs you are taking are strong such as RAD-140, popularly known as Testolone and S-23. These particular drugs are strong and can suppress the body, bringing down the body’s ability to naturally produce testosterone.

Once you finish the cycle of strong SARMs, you will need to do a post cycle therapy to get the level of testosterone back to where they should be before SARMs. On the other hand, you will not need to undergo post cycle therapy if the SARMs you have taken are medium strength such as LGD-4033 also known as Ligandrol and Ostarine

A post cycle therapy is a must if you take a strong dose of SARMs or you have used SARMs for a long period of time. If the SARMs you have used is not strong enough and only for a short period of time, then a PCT will no longer be necessary.

These drugs are not suppressive and will not really lower the level of testosterone. If you are unsure as to whether or not the SARMs you are taking is strong, then you have to check it out with your doctor.

The bottom line, you don’t need to put extra drugs in your body if you are taking medium-strength SARMs.

What are the best post cycle therapy drugs?

There are many drugs used as post cycle therapy supplements, but two of the commonly used are Nolvadex and Clomid.

You can easily purchase them at the leading online and offline stores. However, before making your purchase make sure you thoroughly check the ingredients and buy only from a highly reputable source. There is also a proper way to do post cycle therapy and that you have to strictly follow to get the benefits of PCT.

Post cycle therapy is a must to restore the body’s natural hormone balance. Although some steroids, prohormones will tell you that you don’t need to undergo a post cycle therapy, which is why people tend to prefer SARMs over steroids, but it does not necessarily mean that you are completely safe. It is always worth doing thorough research to prevent negative side effects that might occur when you don’t undergo a post cycle therapy.

Most importantly, you have to use only approved drugs for post cycle therapy. Post cycle therapy plans usually last between four to six weeks, but it does not necessarily mean that your testosterone level will go back to normal after completing the post cycle therapy.

The changes are gradual, which is why it is important to stick to the PCT plan.
